TED

Movie Genre: Comedy, FantasyMovie Rating: 14AOpening Date: June 29th, 2012Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis and Seth MacFarlaneDirector: Seth MacFarlane Tobacco Use: There is one obvious scene. If there were any other scenes, they were very subliminal.  It all started with a Christmas miracle and a little boy’s wish upon a star. John (Mark Wahlberg) wished his teddy bear and best friend would come alive. The next day, Ted (Seth MacFarlane) became his best friend forever until Lori (Mila Kunis) came along and offered an ultimatum. It was her, his loving girlfriend of four years or Ted, his crude, inappropriate, hilarious teddy bear. Through compelling action and companionship the three of them become closer than ever and learn valuable lessons about each other.  The plot had so much potential for comedy with a teddy bear that can talk and gets caught up in implausible situations and they didn’t fail. I like the chemistry between Mark Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane, their style of comedy played well off of each other. Overall there was nothing I didn’t like about the movie and recommend it to anyone who likes Family Guy-esqe humour.Unfortunately, there is one scene in the beginning of the movie where John and Ted are sitting on the couch watching TV before John has to go to work. During this scene, John is holding a cigarette the whole time. Ironically, he didn’t smoke it once so I felt it was unnecessary to have in the scene at hand. Plus I felt it added no extra meaning to the scene at hand. Rating: On Screen Smoking Rating for the Movie: 4 out of 5             Movie Rating if the Movie Didn’t Contain Smoking: 5 out of 5
