Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation follows spy agent Ethan Hunt as he tries to prove that there’s an existing terrorist group called the Syndicate, made up of former intelligence operatives around the world. The only problem is that the Impossible Mission Force (IMF), in which he’s a part of, gets shut down, with its operations taken over by the CIA. Hunt must prove that the Syndicate does exist in order to save lives and the IMF and with twists and turns, the task is nearly impossible!Is any mission too impossible for Ethan Hunt? No. Even when your team gets dissolved by the government? No again. The action and sequences of what seemed like impossible tasks kept me on the edge of my seat. I also really enjoyed the moments of comedic relief by both Tom Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, and his right-wing man, Benji played by Simon Pegg. What I didn’t like was that there was only one female character, Ilsa Faust played by Rebecca Ferguson, in the movie. Although she was super fierce and kicked-butt, I would really like to see more strong female protagonists in future Mission Impossible movies. Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation was a fantastic action spy film and definitely deserves the title of must-see summer blockbuster. So, your mission, should you accept it, is to grab some friends or family members and call on your inner secret agent and go watch the movie!
There was no commercial tobacco product use AT ALL during the movie. My movie dates, my cousins, were surprised when I asked them what they thought about not seeing any on-screen smoking. One thought that for sure a villain would have been smoking because it seemed to be a “norm” she saw in other action thrillers. We were all glad that there wasn’t any use we know that young people are susceptible to being influenced by what we see on-screens. My youngest cousin, who is a huge fan, wanted to re-enact some of the action scenes (with sound effects) after watching the movie. So, you definitely don’t need tobacco presence in a film to enjoy it!
